How to make Windows 11 look like Windows 10

After upgrading to Windows 11, many users miss the familiar look and layout of Windows 10. Microsoft's new system is not only changes in performance, but also a lot of visual novelties that not everyone likes. The good news? You can bring back a more classic style and feel “at home” again. Read how to do it in a new article by Matthew Druzhg of the Support and Service Department.

1. Move the taskbar to the left

In Windows 11, the taskbar icons are centered by default, which can be confusing for those accustomed to the classic layout. Fortunately, this is easy to change:
1. right-click the taskbar.
2. select “Taskbar Settings.”
3. scroll to the “Taskbar behavior” section and expand it.
4. from the list “Taskbar Alignment” select “Left”.
And you're done - the taskbar returns to its place, just like in Windows 10.

2. Restore the classic Start menu

The new Start menu in Windows 11 may seem less functional. If you miss the older look, it's worth reaching for proven tools:

- StartAllBack - a paid, but highly polished application that restores not only the Start menu, but also other classic elements.
- Open-Shell - a free alternative, known back in the days of Windows 7 and 8.

Before installing, remember to download programs only from official sources and read the license.

3. Disable widgets

Widgets are new in Windows 11, but if you don't use them, you can disable them to make the taskbar more transparent:
1. right-click the taskbar.
2 Select “Taskbar Settings.”
3. switch the “Widgets” option to “Disabled.”
This gives you a clean, orderly taskbar - without unnecessary additions.

4. Change the icons to Windows 10 style

Aesthetics is not only about layout, but also about details such as icons. You can easily restore the style familiar from Windows 10:
1. visit the IconArchive website and download the Windows 10-inspired icon pack.
2. right-click the shortcut icon (e.g. Microsoft Edge) → “Properties.”
3. click “Change icon”, point to the downloaded .ico file and confirm.
4. save your changes.
Repeat this step for other applications - the effect will quickly become visible.

5. Set the wallpaper from Windows 10

The final touch is the familiar Windows 10 wallpaper - it will make the whole thing look consistent:
1. go to WallpaperHub.
2. search for Windows 10 wallpaper and download it in the appropriate resolution.
3. set it as your desktop background (right-click on the file → “Set as desktop background”).
